Calgary’s Favourite Neighbourhood Public Outdoor Ice Skating Spots

Many of you know I don’t have great winter outdoor sporting skill and capability (you can read more about some of my misfortunes here). I don’t plan to die trying to improve these skills, either. But I do hope to at least improve my capabilities slightly this season.

Are you looking for a groomed piece of ice to enjoy some outdoor family skating fun this winter in Calgary? Here’s my list of city favourites: edited and republished by popular demand.

⚠️ Check the City of Calgary’s website to ensure the facilities are open, as mild weather might cause ice conditions to deteriorate rendering them unsafe.

Adopt-A-Rink skate locations

The Adopt-a-Rink program sees volunteers in these communities adopting approved areas that are flooded, maintained and cleaned on a regular basis for neighbourhood enjoyment.

ℹ️ This is a volunteer-run program. Volunteer availability and weather conditions may affect whether these locations are maintained this year.

⚠️ These rinks are for pleasure skating only. Hockey equipment and games are not permitted here.

The Adopt-A-Rink program lists over 50 rinks that may be maintained during the winter season.  Here are some favourites, listed by city quadrant.
